The aim of Advances in Psychiatry and Neurology is to present new ideas and valuable theoretical research as well as practical applications in the fields of psychiatry and neurology. The range of our topics includes both clinical and theoretical issues relating to the functioning of the mind and the brain, humanistic aspects of both areas and problems of application relating to psychiatry and neurology, especially those linked with the promotion of health and development of mental health protection systems and neurological therapeutics. Advances in Psychiatry and Neurology aims to facilitate the exchange of ideas and experiences between various professionals working in psychiatry and neurology; between researchers and practitioners, and between those offering assistance in health recovery and those benefiting from it. Advances in Psychiatry and Neurology seeks to demonstrate theoretical and practical relationships, correlations and distinctions between psychiatry and neurology, and between mental illness and neurological disease, as well as the practice of psychiatry and neurology.

The original (reference) version of the journal Advances in Psychiatry and Neurology / Postępy Psychiatrii i Neurologii is its printed version.

In the years 2022–2024 the journal is co-financed by the Ministry of Education and Science (under the agreement No. RCN/SP/0152/2021/1) for the following tasks:

1. Dissemination of scientific articles and information about the journal, including the costs of adapting technical means.
2. Purchase of a license for the use of editorial and publishing management software for the years 2022-2023.
3. The task of verifying and correcting abstracts and scientific articles accepted for publication in the journal.

In the years 2018–2019 the journal was partly financially supported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education from resources assigned to the dissemination of science (agreement no 707/P-DUN/2018). The task: Publishing scientific articles in English in the quarterly “Postępy Psychiatrii i Neurologii / Advances in Psychiatry and Neurology”.

In the years 2016–2017 the journal was partly financially supported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education from resources assigned to the dissemination of science (agreement no 842/P-DUN/2016). The task: Publishing scientific articles in English in the quarterly “Postępy Psychiatrii i Neurologii / Advances in Psychiatry and Neurology”.

The journal was partly financially supported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Republic of Poland within the framework of the Index Plus programme in 2012–2014.
