Basic assumptions and solutions in contemporary classifications of mental disorders

Summary
An evident progress has been noted in recent years as regards methodological basis of psychiatric diagnostics. Developement in all the three stages of the diagnostic process (phenomenological, nosological and taxonomic) has been expressed in contemporary classifications of mental disorders. Two of these classifications (DSM III-R, ICD-10) are particularly noteworthy not only due to their international range, but also to their novel methodological assumptions and practical solutions.
